Today we would like to introduce you the digital twin experiment conducted by Indaero Grupo Emergy from Spain.
Who is Indaero Groupo Emergy?
Indaero Grupo Emergy S.L. is an Andalusian company with over 42 employees dedicated to advanced engineering and manufacturing for the aerospace sector. Our capabilities for high-quality machining, vacuum thermoforming, textile manufacturing and label manufacturing, meet demanding specifications of parts, structures, interiors, and non-flight equipment.
What is the purpose of the digital twin that you have created?
The purpose of our digital twin is to create a digital model of the vacuum thermoforming process. Based on machine setting data, thermographic mapping, vacuum monitoring and Indaero expertise, the solution aims to improve efficiency of resources and machine’s operation.
Has the digital twin fulfilled your expectations?
Implementing the digital twin is impacting positively on the workforce affected by the solution supporting engineers, quality technicians, and machine operators in making more informed and accurate decisions during the forming process. Real-time data makes the thermoforming a living process to optimise manufacturing conditions helping to reduce the rate of discarded parts and material consumption, besides strengthening the knowledge and control of thermal processes, material behaviour and system integration.
What are your plans for the near future with the digital twin?
Improving robustness of the software increasing product variability. Preparing training sessions on the digital twin: concepts, use and results of the project. Reviewing interoperability options to integrate the digital twin to the new ERP/PLM that Indaero will implement by the end of the year.
